We Are Having a Celebration Grace@125
Did you know that Grace UMC will be 125 years old in 2010? There are a number of events being planned to celebrate. We are looking for a theme for the year and would welcome your suggestions.

Grace @ 125
In 1918 the Ladies Aid Society discontinued refreshments at their meetings due to the War. Sunday School attendance
was down to the flu epidemic. The ladies put in 2,000 hours of work for the Red Cross, knitting, making bandages.
They made convalescent robes and tied comforters.

The 1938 the church staff was expanded to include Religious Education Director, Dale Strong. On October 23, 1938,
University of Life meetings were inaugurated for ages 15 to 40. The officers were: Thesa Boy, Dorothy Payne, Lela
Sutton, Mary Jean Cramer and Paul Payne, Jr.

The two stained glass windows in the Sanctuary picture the four evangelists with their symbols.

East: Matthew stands with quill in hand; Mark holds the “Gospel:. This Great East Window was dedicated January,
1967.

West: Luke, “the beloved physician”, has the medical arts in his hand; John holds the chalice cup. Two symbols in the
bottom section represent the first church in Iowa—the log church—and the circuit rider bringing religion to the frontier.
This Christian Service window was dedicated September, 1967.
September 1993 was the consecration of the New Creation windows and furnishings in Fellowship Hall.
