The Wonders of Being in a Connection
The Haitian earthquake demonstrates the power of the United Methodist connection.
Because we have an existing network of churches and mission sites already in Haiti,
100% of our emergency offerings go to meet needs, nothing is spent on fundraising
or administration. We actually had a team of UMCOR (United Methodist Commit-
tee On Relief) officials in Haiti at the time of the quake. (We lost a senior member
of UMCOR to the tragedy.) The administration of UMCOR is paid for by appor-
tionment money from across the United States. Being connected to other churches
throughout the United States and throughout the world makes the United Methodist
Church a mighty presence when disaster strikes.
Lenten Study
Kathye Harrington-Taber will be leading a study on James Harnish’ Radical Renovation Living the Cross-Shaped
Life on Mondays at 7 pm during Lent. The cost of the book will be $4. If there is sufficient interest, she will lead a
second study during the day. James Harnish is senior pastor of Hyde Park UMC in Tampa, Florida. Please see her
or leave your name in the Main Office if you are interested.
Grace Club Schedule Change
