Middle School Mid-week Fun
We meet from 2:30 to 5:30 pm during our session. (We can no longer open early for Early Out Days.) There is no charge to participate, but there are modest fees for field trips and lock-ins. We do require a registration form and a signed permission slip. These are available on our website www.gracedesmoines.org. If you have questions, contact me at kathyeht@gracedesmoines.org or (515)255-2131 ext. 230. Grace Club also has a team of Drake students and volunteers. Everyone here who volunteers or works with children and youth is screened ahead of time. If Des Moines Public Schools are closed for bad weather, the church is closed. We will post notices on the web site www.gracedesmoines.org .
We have space to sit and talk, board and video games, snacks, cooking projects, and arts and crafts projects. People can do homework, but we don’t require it. There is no religious instruction at Grace Club. That happens here during Sunday School and Confirmation. We model Christian behavior and that’s what we expect from the youth while they are with us. There is zero tolerance of physical aggression. We also assume youth can pick up after themselves, which is still a work in progress.
What we do: Service rocks! We do service projects so that youth understand that they can change the world now, as well as into the future. We do them once a month during Grace Club and at every lock-in. We also will do a field trip or two. Students must have permission slips to attend! Lock-Ins are fun. We will do two or three this year. One will be just for 5th and 6th Graders. We will need parent volunteers. Permission slips are a must.
Grace Club benefits from the generosity of church members and parents. We regularly need food donations, drivers, craft materials, and an extra set of hands. Monetary donations are also welcome.

We will have a Lock-In in March for everyone. In April there will be a 5th and 6th Grade Lock-In but the dates for these two Lock-Ins are not set.
